Hello. Are there any options/features to customize the following in WordFence…

1- Lockout notice page (Each time someone is locked out, it’s too obvious they immediately know the site is using or running WordPress and WordFence.)

2- WordFence 2FA (The are options in other plugins to easily customize these words, but we are not able to see these features anywhere in WordFence).

I think there are projects that you won’t mind leaving the above public, but there also some projects that require some customization — it seems WordFence is too much promoted on the frontend when it’s being used on a site.

    Thank you!

Hi @williamews, thanks for your thoughts.

We are aware that some customers would like to customize their block pages. Each request for a feature gets noted internally to help us prioritize, but we can never guarantee here on the forums when it may be added to the plugin or what a potential timescale may be. We don’t believe that the knowledge Wordfence is operating on your site would cause an attacker to have an advantage, as their methods when attempting to find a vulnerability with a site will likely not change. It’s certainly more important to ensure all passwords for WordPress admin users, your database, hosting etc. are very secure and using 2FA where possible.

You can currently add custom text in Wordfence > All Options > Brute Force Protection > Additional Options > Custom text shown on block pages if you need to explain anything specific to your legitimate site visitors who may have become blocked at some point.

Whilst we aren’t able to provide support for custom code, or guarantee that it won’t be affected by future plugin updates, you may be able to customize certain wording within the plugin using a similar method to this: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/unwanted-status-appears/#post-17381714

If you’d like specific terminology to be customized within the plugin, you can provide your use-case and detailed description of the changes you’d like to see to feedback @ wordfence . com

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

    Hello @wfpeter

    Thanks for the response.

I have no doubt that WordFence does what it’s created to do — my comments were about the customization of the above things I mentioned, which many other users have mentioned on other forums that you have been promising to work on that for years now, but it has never happened. Like I mentioned, some projects do not need such deep customizations, but some do — and it will be appreciated by users if you make that available in the features should it even be in the premium version/plan. Honestly, we were hoping that you have such feature in the premium version. But after reading through the features and comments online we realized that it was not even in the premium version.

    Thanks again for your support!

    Hey @williamews,

We requested the same feature many years ago. Nothing done so far. So, we gave up on Team Wordfence to help us on this matter.

Our next step is to hire a WordPress/JS/PHP expert who can help us replace Wordfence’s block page with a custom page without disrupting Wordfence’s core functions. If interested, Upwork is a great place where you can hire one of those experts — at an affordable price.

We sure hope Team Wordfence will listen more to its customers (free and premium) and launch a few new, cool features in the near future based on their requests.

    Cheers!
