Customize Drop down menus

  • Some of my sub-menus are quite long and don’t fit on the screen. To see an example please go to my site https://www.baumwollarchives.com and look at the menu labeled Movie Scenes (it’s the one next to home). You’ll see that the pull-down menu goes the full length of the screen. Unfortunately their are some more items that don’t fit on the screen and it doesn’t allow you to scroll down further to see the ones that don’t fit.

    Is there any shortcode that will allow it to scroll down further? If not is there shortcode that will make the font smaller on the sub-menu items as well as have them be closer together? And if that can’t be done, perhaps there is shortcode that can make the pull-down menu items be in two columns instead of one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • You can shorten up the link text by going into the Appearance-Menus screen and clicking on each item in the menu and changing the Navigation Label to something shorter. So instead of having ‘Scenes From The Movie Love With The Proper Stranger’ you could turn it into ‘Love With The Proper Stranger’ as its already under the Movie Scenes menu and that may shorten them all up enough to show the full menu.

    If that doesn’t work or too much work, I can come up with some CSS to shorten up the padding between them and make the font smaller.

    Thanks Jarret. I’ll do that but there’s still too many to make it fit. That would be great if you could come up with CSS to make font smaller and padding to make closer together. would the code go into a specific php file or somewhere else?
