I’m struggling with the sorting order on our page when people search by name like “detergent”. I want my products to appear in order of sales – bestseller first.

It was possible for me to change this in the category by changing the menu order to minus numbers (-100) in the advanced productdata and set it to customized order.

The issue is with the search by name, the products seem to appear in a random order. Is it possible to change the sorting when searched by
    name, in a customized order?

I already searched the forum, but I couldn’t find a post related to my issue.

    Hi @dennispuetz,

WooCommerce by default includes a basic search form and you’ll want to extend this functionality by adding a plugin that provides the most advanced Search Engine and best Search Experience for you and your customers. These are some recommendations:

    WooCommerce Product Search
    Smart WooCommerce Search
    Advanced Woo Search

    I hope this helps.

    Hi @rainfallnixfig,

Thanks for your quick answer. But I was not looking for another plugin.

With the option standard product sorting it shows me that this is displayed as “custom order + name”. Unfortunately, this only works when searching by category. Is there no other way, except a plugin, to display this also when searching by product name?

    Hi @dennispuetz,

Thanks for getting back and apologies for the delayed response.

If you’re not using a plugin you’ll need custom code to sort search results by menu order. I’m going to leave this thread open for a bit to see if anyone is able to chime in to help you out.

I can also recommend the following places for more development-oriented questions:

    – WooCommerce Slack Community: https://woocommerce.com/community-slack/
    – WooCommerce FB group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/advanced.woocommerce/

So, using a plugin would definitely be the easiest solution. However, if you prefer to use custom code and need assistance, we recommend reaching out to a developer from one of the official WooCommerce services at https://woocommerce.com/customizations/.

    Thanks.
