Customized file and child theme

I have customized the file template-functions.php which is located in /plugins/wp-property/lib/ While I have been able to place a copy of my other copied files in the child theme folder and have those files take precedence, I not had luck doing the same with this file.
Is there something else I can try so this file does not get replaced each time I update wp-property?
