    Hello,

I’m enough sure that I already made a topic about this, but I didn’t find it.

I’m managing a web site with WooCommerce, Yoast and WPML. Updating Yoast plugin from 19.3 to 19.7.1 I lost (but as I told it already happened in the past) all the customized titles of secondary languages on the archives pages.

The customized titles there were replaced by the main language version.

    No cache active.

If I try to take a look on the back-end the pages shows the customized title, so the update didn’t changed the database record.

But on the front-end I see the main language title copied on the secondary languages pages.

To fix the problem I have to re-save the page in the secondary languages of archives pages.

Is there a way to fix it definitely? I remembered why I was worried to update Yoast there… ??

    Thanks a lot.

Obviously I would appreciate if you can suggest a way to re-save all archive pages in one way. Without opening them one by one.

    Hello @griotta

I’m sorry the SEO titles for the secondary language got replaced by the main language titles. Since you mentioned that you could still see them in the WordPress database, please try this:

    1. Install & activate the?Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations’, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation’, and ‘Reset Internal link counter’ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that the specific reset was successful.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

Please let us know if the reported issue remains after resetting the optimized data.

    Dear @maybellyne,

happy to received an answer at the end. Thanks! Happy to say also that it worked! It fixed the problem on our staging web site.

Now I’d like to ask you how can we avoid that it will happen on our production web site updating Yoast. Is there a way to avoid it?

If not, what exactly happens resetting those records? I want to be sure that I do not need to check all the web site to see that our work wasn’t lost.

Thanks a lot for your time.

    Hey @griotta,

    Thank you for your reply.

Not sure, as we are not 100% sure what was/is causing the issue specifically with this WPML setup. However, re-running the indexables doesn’t affect anything regarding our output or internal workings or doesn’t remove previous work you’ve done.

What actually happens is that doing so is just emptying our own database tables and then we rescan your content so we can store the information in a better way – doing so will improve the speed of our plugin and the queries it fires to your database.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe it’s something that you and WPML needs to investigate. Is there something that can I do it to help you in that sense?

    Thanks @jeroenrotty.

    Hey @griotta,

We just released 19.8 of Yoast SEO, including a possible fix for the issue you were/are experiencing. See our changelog here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-seo/#developers. The item I’m referring to is this:

Fixes a bug where robots meta tags would be unintentionally synchronized between pages in different languages when using multilingual plugins like WPML or Polylang.

If you update to 19.8, does the issue resolve?

    (@griotta)

Yeah! With pleasure I can confirm that updating directly to 19.8 on our production web site our web site didn’t lose the titles on archive pages, @jeroenrotty

Many many thanks. I’m very satisfied about your support!

Awesome, happy to hear that, and thank you for your kind words!

    Have a great day!
