Customizing Shortlink URLs

I am trying to utilize the shortlink of site links for the Twitter button instead of the permalink that the others use. I currently use another plugin to customize the site’s shortlinks.

My question is: is there a way to avoid having “https://shar.es” links show up when calling ‘the_shortlink’?

Ideally I’d like to use the schema that the other plugin is using, but barring that, is it at least possible to use WP’s own shortlink?
