Customizing Templates

  • Hi. I’m trying to figure out how to create custom templates.

    Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be any official docs on how to do this. There seems to be some contradictory information scattered across blogs and comments.

    Is anyone aware of an up-to-date accurate guide on creating custom templates for the nexgen gallery plugin?

    Ideally I’d like to be able to create custom templates without altering existing templates. I’d also like to be able to have my own templates survive when the plugin gets updated.

    Are these things possible?

  • Create you own template by finding an existing template then making a copy with a new name eg bobstemplate.

    Then use that new name in your short code [album id=nn template=bobstemplate].

    I haven’t looked in a template file but hopefully you can work out what/how to customise bobstemplate.

    To be different, I made my own album template=extend purely by modifying the css.
