Customizing the search form

I have changed some things for the search form, such as adding :hover :active states, but how do I set the appearance of it when it’s selected, clicked? I tried with the #searchform input:visited but it didn’t work. Does anyone know what’s wrong? Oh, and here’s the site: realillusions
