• Hi there,

This is the second website I am using your plugin on and everything was working perfect for me until now. The great thing about your plugin is that you can translate the labels easily (like ingredients etc), which I was able to do successfully.

However when I enter the actual recipe text using Cyrillic symbols, the text gets converted into junk characters (see screenshot below). Interestingly the labels are fine somehow. Do you have any solutions for this problem by any chance?

    Thank you,
    Monika

Just to add, I thought it might be a problem with the font. I thought the second font you are using is not Cyrillic supported, but I changed the font on the theme I was using to be the same as the fonts across the website, which are Cyrillic supported in google fonts and the issue still remained.

    Thanks for your help!

P.S. – is everything fine on the second site or did both sites have the same issue at once? You also said everything was fine before but not now. What is different now than before? i.e. – did you just update our plugin, update or add a new plugin, change servers etc.?

This will help us better diagnose the issue. It’s typically not anything difficult to correct.

Hi there, thanks so much for the quick reply.

I should clarify, the first site was in English so that’s why I didn’t have any problems there, the second one is Cyrillic. The site displays the symbols everywhere else fine, it’s only on the recipe. I use the latest wordpress and the latest version of your plugin.

I checked and one of the fonts you use is Oswald, which is Cyrillic-friendly, however Lato is not. So I updated the CSS of one of the designs to change the lato font to the same font the site uses, but that still didn’t make a difference. Not sure what else to check.

Let me know if you need more info from me.

    Thanks!

    Hi Monika,

Thanks for the clarification. It’s very helpful.

We’re still looking into things and will let you know as soon as possible. Our plugin started as an extension of the ZipList plugin which wasn’t designed to handle languages other than English. Adding other languages is on our to do list but haven’t gotten to it yet. The fist thing, of course, is figure out the Cryillic issue.

    Thanks,
    Commodore
