I have two sites out of 15 that daily get the alert to update to version 1.9.9 . See screenshot here: https://paste.pics/IHP77 .

The current version is 1.9.8 (see screenshot of plugins screen on one of the sites here https://paste.pics/IHP7I )

I have deleted the plugin, and reinstalled via Add Plugin. The WP plugin site shows that 1.9.8 is the current version on the repository. I have also removed the site after deleting the plugin, then reinstalling/reactivating the plugin via Add Plugin. Still get the daily message about needing the 1.9.9 update (first screenshot)

This only happens on two of the sites that are managed by InfiniteWP. The other sites are ‘happy’ with version 1.9.8.

    Please advise.

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to us here with your queries. We usually release the new version of the InfiniteWP plugin in a wave(releasing to a few users). The client plugin update will be sent directly to your IWP admin panel from our server.

Once we ensure that our released version is bug-free, we will push the IWP client update to the plugin repository. So, you will only get the update notice on your InfiniteWP admin panel and see a different version on the WordPress plugin repository.

I hope this clarifies your query, and please don’t hesitate to contact us again with any other concerns.

    Cheers!

The issues is with 2 sites (out of about 20) that daily want to upgrade to version 1.9.9, which does not exist. Version 1.9.8 is what is installed on all of the sites (not just the 2 that are complaining).

So daily I get the notice that those two sites want 1.9.9. And even when I let it update those two sites, the next day those same sites complain about needing 1.9.9. The other sites are not complaining nor requiring the update.

I have uninstalled the plugin on those two sites, deleted them from the dashboard, reinstalled the plugin, and re-added the two sites to the dashboard.Did another refresh to make sure the plugin was current.

And the next day, those two sites will still complain about wanting 1.9.9. This has been going on for several weeks. Ignoring the update request for the two site, and the next day the complaint about needing 1.9.9.

Screenshots of the messages are in my original message here.

    Hi Rick,

Thanks for your reply. Have you installed any plugins or enabled services to auto-update the plugins on your WordPress sites?
If yes, would it be possible for you to temporarily disable them and update the IWP client plugin to the latest version, 1.9.9? Then monitor your admin panel and let us know if you continue to receive the update notifications for the two sites in question.

Please write an email to our technical support team at help at infinitewp dot com if the same issue persists.

    Cheers!

One one of the sites that keeps complaining about the 1.9.9 update (even after it gets updated), I looked at the plugin files. The init.php file had a version number of 1.9.8, even after doing the client update.

The sites that are ‘not complaining’ have an init.php file with version of 1.9.9.

So I copied a ‘good site’ (uncomplaining) plugin files to the complaining site, therefore doing a manual update. A IWP rescan of all the sites fixed that complaining site. The other complaining site (where I didn’t do a manual update) is still complaining about the 1.9.9 version being needed.

So, the init.php file was not getting updated during, and causing the continual ‘complaining’ about the 1.9.8 version. Perhaps your client update process (via the IWP control panel) is not updating properly.

Note that I set all plugins on the formerly complaining site to ‘no auto updates’. That did not change the complaining site. Only a manual copy of all files from a ‘non-complaining’ site to the complaining site fixed the complaining site.

Well, I thought that manual copy of the plugin files from a ‘good’ site to the problem site would fix things. And it did. For a day.

The next day, the plugin files in that problem site have reverted back to the previous version. Without any actions on my part. It’s a test site, but I’ve left it alone for a few days.

What would be causing the plugin files to revert back to a previous version? There are no plugins on the site that have that ‘feature’. I see nothing anywhere on the site that would revert files to a previous version.

The only thing that appears to revert the files is the manual ‘check for updates’ in IWP admin. And the revert files only happens on the first time I run the update check that day. Subsequent update checks on the same day don’t cause the file reverts.
