Daring Fireball Like “Linked List?”

If you’re a frequent reader to Gruber’s Daring Fireball then you know that a majority of his content is actually short commentary with links to other articles around the internet. I’m starting to plan out a new theme design and I would like to have a second loop in the sidebar that pulls posts from a particular category to do a similar implementation. However, like Gruber’s site, I would like the “title” of the post to link to the original site/article. I know I can do this as a blogroll, but that’s not what I’m going for here. Basically the theme would look something like this: (using general code as to keep things simple)

[href=”link_to_site”][post_title][/href]
[post_content]
[/post]

Does anyone know a way to implement this? Is there a plugin or a way to write the theme to make it work?
