• Since WordPress updated itself ? to the most up to date version, I now can’t get past the dashboard to do anything without a darkened work area and a perpetual progress bar.

Interestingly if I manually type in the pages I want in the url I can get them to view but as soon as I update, again the same.

I tried temporarily disabling all plugins and this doesn’t seem to help.

I am not very technically minded so if you know how I can fix this could you make it simple please?

    Thank you.

  • Currently, WordPress cannot “update itself”. Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php
