Dash Board Won’t Load

I have tried to get help on this a while back but the problem is still haunting around. I now have two domains that I used in a different method. I now want to convert them to WP. I used fantastico to upload Wp 2.9.1. The site opens the admin logs in but the dashboard will not stop loading. the WP development Blog and a few others just keep loading. Also I can not move any widgets nor can I open screen options. I have other domains which I loaded Wp on but they were new domains and they work fine.
Any thoughts appreciated

Where are you hosted? Linux or Windows server? PHP4/PHP5? What theme are you using?
Have you tried uploading WordPress files/folders via FTP or cpanel instead of fantastico installation?

I thank you for your input. I have all my domains hosted by HG. I believe I have PHP4 I am not sure. I have tried a manual load using Filezilla with the same results. I also have tried both the basic theme as well as a theme I have used on other sties. As I indicated it seems to be related only to sites that I am trying to convert to WP. I have no problem using 2.9.1 with other sites that I have built.

You mean when you first set up WordPress, there is no problem at all with widgets using default theme, great. So what are you trying to import or convert to WordPress that’s wreaking havoc to the WP interface which we might be able to help you with?

I have for ex. 4 domains. Two of them I just purchased brand new never used. I purchased them through GD I host them through Hg and loaded WP 2.8.6 then updated and all is working perfect. I have 2 other domains that I have owned for over a year. I decided to remove the format that I was using to run those domains. I cleared them off HG and did a new add-on of domains to my package. I then loaded WP 2.8.6 and noticed the problems I mentioned above. I then tried removing WP and loading it fresh using FTP. The same problems exist. So what]ever the problem is it has nothing to do with HG and I don’t think it is HG it has to do with the fact that the domains were used before and for whatever reason WP will not load completely. Mercime I am willing to share private info if you think that will help. I have got to get some sleep work in the morning but I will check back here in the morning.

OK a new situation just arose. I just activated a brand new domain using HG. i loaded WP 2.8.6 and updated it to 2.9.1. I have no way of moving widgets,the screen options doesn’t work and the same word blog just keeps loading. So the problem is not with just older domains. Any advice.

Dave, have you contacted your webhosting service? This is a very unusual behavior. I found this tutorial and other tutorials re how to install WordPress in Hostgator. Can you see if you missed something in the process?

Mercime. Great minds I sent HG a note this afternoon , They just got back to me they agree something is wrong and it appears to be on their end. I also found out that I have two accounts with HG one is giving me all the trouble and the other is loading fine. So in the process we are narrowing it down. When I find out what is happening from HG I will make sure to put it on here. I believe I saw a while back another person was having the same problem so it might be interesting to see what HG has to say. In the mean time thank you for your help

You’re welcome. Glad to know you’ve at least found out what was wrong and webhost is working with you on that ??
