• Resolved madisonmortgage

    (@madisonmortgage)

I was working on my site last night and everything was working great. I was just updating some internal pages, saved everything, refreshed the live site (everything looked good) and went to bed.

I woke up this morning to half of my site not working. The dashboard just gives me errors when I log in (RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Couldn’t resolve host ‘www.ads-software.com’ and RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Couldn’t resolve host ‘planet.www.ads-software.com’ and RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Couldn’t resolve host ‘blogsearch.google.com’.

The home page only shows half of the page and the flickr rss footer plugin no longer works on any page. I deactivated and reactivated it with no luck.

I tried re-installing 3.01 and that errors too (Download failed.: Couldn’t resolve host ‘www.ads-software.com’).

    The website is here: https://www.madisonmortgageloans.com/home/

Like I said, nothing was tweaked with before this happened other than updating internal pages thru my wp admin account.

    Please help!

It sounds like your hosting provider has suddenly turned off PHP’s ability to include remote files. I recommend contacting them.

I agree so I called them and no luck. Basically told to ask the wordpress community because it must be a setting issue since the servers never change… any suggestions?

It’s funny. I was activating some of my plugins again after deactivating them and got this “Error establishing a database connection” message. Saying check my config file and whatnot. To me, it seemed as if my hosting provider was messing with something since what I was doing wouldn’t effect that. Lo and behold, the site works again! All I can think is that they restarted the server or restored defaults or something, not sure how that works but wanted to say thank you for your quick responses, I appreciate the help!

    You’re welcome!

I am getting a couldn’t resolve host ‘alerts’ error and the same error for host google. How can I fix this problem? I am very much not a techie so need simple, clear instructions.
    Thanks for any help received.
