    Hi,
This really has me puzzled! I’m not sure if this is a WordPress problem, or would this have to do with Technorati? Earlier in the week I updated my WordPress from 2.03 to the newest 2.05 version. I thought everything was fine until I noticed a link problem yesterday.

In WordPress Dashboard > Incoming Links, it is showing the most recent incoming links as coming from my own blog posts of my same blog! I also noticed in Technorati that it is showing the last 6 incoming links as coming from my own blog posts! I’m not referring to one of my other blogs, but to it showing incoming links from my same blog! My url I’m referring to is: https://www.linkandblog.com if that helps to figure this out.

I did a search here in the forum and didn’t find anything recent or similar for this challenge, so I don’t know if this is an isolated case or if something got goofed up when I upgraded my WordPress program, or could this be a problem with Technorati???

I’m really baffled over this if someone could please help. Thank you!

Since my initial post I sent an email to notify Technorati in case the problem may be on their end.

Has anyone here had this challenge with their blog? I still need a resolve. Thank you.

    Anyone?

I’m having the exact same problem, it started yesterday. All incoming links are from my blog only.

Have you had any luck figuring out what the problem is?

    Hi Tangerine,

Unfortunately I’m still battling this problem. I’ve sent two emails to Technorati in hopes that maybe the problem is on their end, but they have not responded to either of my emails!

It’s very frustrating because it looks very bad in Technorati when people look at my profile and view what appears to only be links from my own posts! Jeesh, there has to be an easy resolve for this somewhere!

One of the threads here I read from back in July stated it was a Technorati problem, so I wish they would respond to my emails!

In WordPress I just deselected the dashboard option to record my incoming links. If it’s a WordPress problem maybe that will help. The number of my posts is quickly surpassing the number of incoming links from elsewhere so my own posts are the only thing showing up now in my WordPress dashboard!

Anyone here know a resolve? Please? Thank you!

    Hi,
Still waiting for a kind person to let us know if there is a way to resolve this within WordPress. I have not received any response from Technorati to several support tickets I sent them, so I’m wondering if this is a challenge within WordPress?

    Anyone? Thanks.

    BUMP:

Still waiting for a kind person. Anyone?

Technorati is well-known for not bothering with legitimate complaints/bug reports.

Other than that, I can’t help at all – I immediately whack all the crap out of the dashboard upon any install of wp.

I have this same problem on my blog, and I am using Version 2.0.5. I am also very new to this, having just started a few weeks ago.

Most of my incoming links are coming from my own blog, and it shows the same within Technorati. It suddenly appeared just a few days ago. I suspect it may have something to do with one internal link that I have, where one post links to one other within my blog. I may try to remove that internal link to see if anything changes.

Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? I’d prefer to not remove the internal links.

I think I know of a solution to fix this. WP sends pings from your own site to your own site when you write posts. That’s why the imcoming links shows links from your own blog.

    I found this plugin
That will prevent WP from pinging itself.

Caution: Self pinging is used in displaying related posts so if u disable it and if u r using related posts; u might encounter some issues.

    Hope this helps.

You can also prevent this by simply using relative links to your own blog instead of absolute links.

    That is, instead of:
    <a href="https://myblog.com/post">

    Use:
    <a href="/post">

There is a small downside to relative links: They are kinda worthless in feed readers. :-\

Two weeks ago, i moved my blog from sub-folder (https://manukhanna.com/blog) to root (https://manukhanna.com/blog). But in Technorati, the Recent Inbound Links area still shows links from https://manukhanna.com/blog.

    How do I fix this?

I’m still not certain the relative links fix actually works in my case. I changed my links several days ago to relative links, and both my incoming links panel and technorati show that I’m still linking to myself, even after I’ve forced pings. How long does it generally take for the spidering to refresh itself?

Same problem here dude, technorati is still showing links that I deleted a month ago. No telling when Technorati will update your links. You could try deleting your claim and registering a new claim.

But did your “incoming links” panel on the dashboard clear up? Mine still shows that I’m linking to myself.
