Dashboard is weird after update
-
Hello, please tell me why my dashboard is all weird and I can’t use some functions within my dashboard?
Im new to this so please excuse noob question ??

I have just spoken to Crazy Domains. They tell me that there is nothing wrong with the hosting, but there appears to be a problem with the “wordpress allow comment file script” and that I will need to fix it. That’s what they told me, but I don’t understand what it means or how to fix it.
Yeah, both sites are on Crazy Domains. I think it’s them you know. Glenda, in my experience with them, their support will just give you a bumsteer to get you off the phone. They are shonky as.
I’m just guessing, but I think it’s a specific server they may be having issues with. I say that because WordPress is working fine on other hosting companies (Hostgator), so it’s unlikely it’s the WordPress core that’s the problem.
Both sites I’m having the problem with a relatively new, so may be on the same server.
My other client with Crazy, his site is a few years old and not having the problem, so may be on a different server from the newer sites.
I’m not overly happy with Crazy Domains, but what do I do if they insist it isn’t their problem? It didn’t help that the guys accent was so thick I was having trouble understanding a little what he said, but I got him to repeat it and then stated it back to him to make sure I was at least matching his words. I’ve been trying to look up this “wordpress allow comment file script” thing, but can’t see anything about it in the WP support forum.
Greg, have you tried talking to Crazy Domains to see what they say about your sites? No, I don’t bother. I’ve pulled my hair out with them in the past, it’s like they have never used WordPress before. One of my client’s sites was resolving to an ip address (https://23.001.007 etc.) when we would type his domain name in.
Crazy Domains support couldn’t see what the problem was and tried to make out it was my fault or something. I moved his site to Hostgator out of frustration and necessity to get it working and all was fixed.
Their support contacted my client and told him that his site was now fixed. (duh, because we moved hosts).
I think their outsourced support gets paid by calls answered, not by resolved problems. Thus, they just give you a rubbish answer that makes no sense.
If I can add a message, I am having the same problem (crazydomains too)
2 of my pages are not working, other 3 are ok (all crazydomains)
Funnily the ones that are not working are my first one and the last one ??Anyway, I always resolve my problems with crazydomains via email and it’s always fine, (sometimes even quite quick)
I have sent an email about the issue this morning and keep you posted…I sent one just then as I hope that enough emails about the same thing will make them do something.
Thanks to everyone! Im sure we can collectively sort this problem. I have called CrazyDomains twice this morning, both times they implied it was my fault as there are no issues with their server. I will search about this ‘allow comment’ file script.
Just to help with narrowing: both my domains are 3-4 weeks old and both are hosted with Crazy Domains.
I have 1 with no plugins, freshly installed wordpress again and set to a default theme, still no change – ugly dashboard and can update few things but can’t change theme, add plugins, edit pages ect…
Please, if anyone finds the solution, please list answer here – would be very much appreciated!
Whenever I try to edit the page, I can see a ‘session expired – please log in again message’ right at the bottom of the page.
I get that same message lj.clark about ‘session expired’
As for my domain (I only have one), it was set up in May and has 10 plugins installed, but only 3 are active. I am now using a MyThemeShop theme (PureView). I seem to have the exact same dashboard problems as you too and very little capacity to make any changes, but my site actually looks normal (https://healthystories.com.au/) so it is just the inside part of the website that makes things work that is the problem.
I have no solutions – I can only do very basic things in terms of coding, so only touch colours, centering, etc. But this is way beyond what I can figure out. Will let you know if I find anything though.
Thanks Glenda – your website looks awesome! Yes, both my sites are ‘active’ and running as you would expect them to.
So backend problem.
We will fix! Cheers, L-J
(P.S Sorry moderators, im guessing these posts will be clogging your emails – L-J)
Ok, under all the ‘loading’ things such as incomming links, other wordpress news ect it says ‘this widget requires JavaScript’. Hopefully that narrows it further.
Hi,
i am with crazy domains and im having the same issue. They implied i had done something wrong. Crazy Domains the most useless company that ever existed.
does anyone have a solution for this?
Sorry to jump in on this thread but I am having the same problem – I am also with Crazy domains. I’m ready to cut my losses with them – do you think the problem would resolve by moving to Hostgator or will it still be broken? It was fine until late last night then it crashed. Front end is fine – back end problem?
