Dashboard link tool not working

  • The hyperlink tool on my WP dashboard in WP version 3.1.4 is not working – this is after an update from 2.9.1. When I click on the linking tool (this is to edit Pages) it is active and does a visual click but the box to insert the URL does not appear. In the very lower left hand corner the word javascript appears while the mouse is held on the link button and the work javascript disappears when the mouse click is released.

    Everything else seems to be working.

    Any help appreciated.

  • Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). Don’t forget the ones in mu-plugins. If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    any clues on this. Having exactly the same problem and have deactivated everything… nothing fixed it. Driving me NUTZ!
