• I just logged in to my client’s site after about a week of not working on it, and the dashboard is not displaying correctly, and I can’t access any of the menu items – ie to turn plugins off etc to try and work out what’s wrong. At the bottom of the screen it says Session Expired, please log in again. When I do this, nothing changes, same non-dashboard and no access…. What should I do??

  • In wordpress settings > general menu check to see what is there for wordpress and the blog location. If one has www drop that and sitename.com

    Hello, thanks for your reply.

    In wordpress address (URL) is:
    https://www.pacificortho.com.au

    In site address (URL) is:
    https://www.pacificortho.com.au

Not sure I understand what I’m supposed to change?

Change the site address to https://pacificortho.com.au

    This has worked for others

You really need to update to the current version of WordPress.

    It didn’t work.

I know, I was just trying to update to see if that would fix the problem. It takes about 3 hours to back the site up though as we live in the middle of nowhere with mobile broadband that keeps dropping out…

It really just happened all of a sudden. I deleted the only plugin I added recently from the server to see if that would fix it (as that was the only change in the last few weeks) but no change…

Does this happen with the twenty twelve theme?

    You using this, https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wassup/ ?

Have you tried no plugins and running the default theme?

It won’t allow me to turn any plugins off through the admin panel. Nothing happens when I try. Same with trying to switch themes… Had not heard of the plugin you mentioned?

You need to use FTP or Cpanel to deactivate all plugins by renaming the plugins folder –

    wp-content
       plugins.HOLD

If that does not work, also rename your active theme –

    wp-content
        themes
           quest.HOLD

Neither of these worked, and now I can’t reactivate my theme through the admin panel, it’s stuck on twentythirteen…..!

Can I manually change something in the php files to select my theme?? It needs to be normal before monday!!

    Thread Starter michellebeth

    (@michellebeth)

Ok I managed to reset the theme manually in phpMyAdmin….. mostly it’s ok just a couple of things missing. I have no idea how to fix this problem. Will a manual update to 3.7.1 help?

Will a manual update to 3.7.1 help?

Hard to say without knowing what the problem was. Do you have the theme reactivated? Is it working okay? Is that theme compatible with WP3.7+ ?

If so, reactivate your plugins one by one to see if any cause the problem to re-occur.

The theme is reactivated but none of the footer widgets are working… is there a way of resetting these manually?? I will do a manual update to 3.7.1 and see what happens… I really don’t understand what’s happened – I haven’t changed anything or even worked on the site for a couple of weeks….

If you’re with Crazy Domains, just wait until Monday night. They have an issue with their WP admin thingy.
