This was a site that did have auto updates on.
Now when trying to go to dashboard to update it doesn’t load.
Site is still accessible via browser.
    How do I update to 4.9.4 ?

  • Hi @dragonsjaw

Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.
Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Any error message? You may also check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message and see why it’s failing. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.

The previous replies provide excellent suggestions for you but I wanted to add that you should make a backup of the /wp-content/ before doing a manual update/upgrade just in case you make a mistake ??

    Thanks all.
I think this may be more server side.
After being patient (I was not gonna do a manual upload!) the dash loaded, slowly.
It’s all a bit sluggish (unusual) so will wait until I connect with my excellent hosts to resolve.

Updating to the latest wp version, and after that I got this notification in chrome: Your clock is ahead, though my date and time is up to date. Then tried in Firefox… it says “Your connection is not secure.”

What shall I do? My website now is not accessible since I updated the wordpress version (4.9.4)in the early morning. I couldnt even login and see my dashboard. Even not logged in, and typed my site in the browser, still the same issue.

What can you suggest? I have done all the advice in the internet….doing the ftp transfers… still the same issue. I dont know what else to do.

Beth11 You should start your own thread. Our problems were not the same.

    Side not to @beth11,

As dragonsjaw said, please do not jump into other topics. If the troubleshooting already posted made no difference for you, then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. A lot more people will see your post this way.
