• I just updated my WordPress installation in an attempt to fix an issue with the Users and Settings options in the Dashboard being missing, but they are still missing.

Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it? I need to be able to create users, set permissions, etc.

    Thanks.

  • Are you using any plugins that remove those options?

Not that I am aware of. As far as I know, I am not using any plug-ins.
I set it up about a year ago, and other than a couple of test posts, the WordPress site has not been used, so I can do a clean install if needed (which is what I thought I was doing by downloading the new 3.1.3 and uploading them using FTP into the WordPress folder on my site.

The only remaining explanation I can think of is the theme is disabling it. Are you using the standard built in theme? If not try switching themes.

I tried a clean reinstall of the WP files, which then caused the site to fail. I then went back to my web host and did a complete reinstall (they are using a new installer system). Now everything seems to be the way it is supposed to be.

So, I don’t know what was causing the earlier problem, but at least it is fixed.
