• I seem to have a very strange issue which occurs totally randomly and makes testing impossible. I have 2 WordPress sites set-up on my server. I have therefore set these up in my local wamp install to go about creating new templates.

All were working however I noticed on one of the live sites (remote server) that the dashboard would show “loading” on most sections. Furthermore, when trying to edit the post the edit area where the body text would normally be visible is white. It seems that sometimes when this happens the actual toolbar does not load properly either.

I have managed to get rid of this yesterday by clearing cookies and all temp files from my browser Firefox, although same issue exists in IE8. This worked apart from one of the local sites, which has been synced to the remote server to all code is the same, this has been double checked. I therefore ran an update from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3. the issue persists however the toolbar for editing does load properly this time however the edit area is still white. I had also tried to disable plugins such as WordPress importer which I note some people have said is the cause of the problem. In my case I don’t believe this is the cause. I have reverted back to the 2020 theme and still the issue persists.

Today the other local site started to show the same problem its totally bizarre and not consistent. Clearing the cookies and cache did not solve the problem today as it did yesterday. The main problem however is how is it possible to check a WordPress install which behaves correctly then the next day after not changing code it is not working! I find this is common with WordPress and for me that makes it unworkable.

Therefore I have to say that sadly I am about to give up on WordPress. I like the system but don’t have time to go round in circles each time I want to work with it. As an experienced web developer I know that if you cannot create the same results consistently whilst testing from the same app or code base then I would declare the system unworkable although I also recognise that there must be a reason, something that WordPress is doing behind the scenes, and it would be most useful if the users could know what that is!

I have read through many posts for hours with lots of people explaining similar issues however there are no solution that work for me that I have seen as yet and I spent hours. It also worries me that so many posts on the WordPress forums are unsolved and there are many. Does anyone from WordPress ever try to help out here? Do they try to resolve bugs like this as I cannot think of another term to describe this behaviour.

Many thanks for any input in advance I would really hope that someone can shed some light on what I am describing, as it’s most annoying!! Please help me solve this issue and report back on the thread for the benefit of all who are experiencing this. Thanks again – Derek

Not much response as yet however I notice that the status of the many other posts describing similar issues have not been update or set to resolved therefore I can only assume the issue is ongoing for some.

Can any regular forum users say whether WordPress staff contribute to the many issues on this forum at all? I don’t know as I am new to the product and as mentioned currently evaluating it for roll out to potential clients.

    many thanks
    Derek
