Dashboard unresponsive – can't add images, links, tags or anything to posts

  • The other day I was writing a post, and I added a photo and a link in it… and it worked. Then it started being very slow and I just saved the draft and came back later. Since then, the situation is:

    – can’t edit that draft (can’t add images or links, etc)
    – can’t add tags (the “add new tag” writing remains there, it looks like i am writing above it, and anyway it doesn’t add the tag either if I press the Add button or the enter key)
    – can’t add links or images (basically all the buttons are unresponsive! I can click on them but nothing happens)

    So I went back to the dashboard and:

    -some parts never load (the menus on the left that usually “open” downwards show me only the main title. If I click, nothing happens)
    -everything is very slow

    So I can’t update my blog and it’s very frustrating. It’s been like this since 3 or 4 days now…

    I emptied my cache, restarted the router, the computer… but nothing changed.

  • Check here, https://javatester.org/version.html, to make sure your java is ok.

    URL? And of course, the normal debug. Turn off all plugins, switch to the twentyten theme and see if it works. Still in twentyten resore plugins to see if they all work.

    Ok, I did what you suggested and it worked – as soon as I deactivated the plugins and changed the theme, everything looked normal again. Then I reactivated the plugins, switched to the previous theme and… same thing as before!
    I assume it’s a problem with the theme? But it was working well before so I don’t understand what happened… Anyway now I put another theme (which is not twentyten) and it works.
    My blog is at blog.travelreportage.com and the theme I was trying to use was AutoFocus+ (the one I put now is AutoFocus 1.0.1)
    Is there anything I can do to go back to Autofocus+ or I just have to forget about it?

    p.s. all plugins work, anyway I deleted the obsolete ones. I have just 4 now (Akismet, WP Stats, WP Facebook Like and AddToAny.

    if other themes work – it’s likely a problem plugin
    deactivate them all
    activate your desired theme
    does it look alright? if so, re-activate plugins one by one – testing in between

    ok, tried… doesn’t work even with all plugins deactivated. Looks like a theme problem!
    I deactivated all plugins and activated desired theme: dashboard automatically messed up. I guess I’ll have to do without AutoFocus+ ??

    I’ll test the theme on my test site for grins

    You can check the theme site also. It may be they haven’t caught up to 3.1 yet.

    works in 3.1 for me but my set up may be different
    look at the validation errors pointed out
