Regarding the dashboard widget not being visible for the editors, I’ve tested it on a lab site with BLC version 2.2.2, but could not replicate similar behavior.

Could you please try re-saving the options on the Advanced tab.
If that doesn’t help, please run a full conflict test, by checking the widget after switching off other plugins, as explained here:

This usually helps to identify various plugin/theme conflicts.
Let us know what was the result of the test.

Diese L?sung ist bei der gro?en Site nicht so einfach m?glich. Aufgrund von Werbevertr?gen muss diese 24/7 im vollen Umfang online sein.
Eine tats?chliche Abschaltung von Plugins ist in dem Fall nicht m?glich.

Leider bringt auch der Problembehandlungsmodus nichts, weil dieser ja nur dem Admin zur Verfügung steht.
Auf der Staging Site (100% Kopie am gleichen Server) funktioniert es übrigens.

Also muss nun der Admin die Links checken, bis das wieder funktioniert. Sollte ich eine ?ltere Version des Link Checkers (damit funktionierte alles) finden, k?nnten wir diese installieren. Sofern dies kein Sicherheitsrisiko ist?

This solution is not so easy given the very large site. Due to advertising contracts, it must be fully online 24/7.
In this case, it is not possible to actually switch off plugins.

Unfortunately, the troubleshooting mode doesn’t help either because it is only available to the admin.

By the way, it works on the staging site (100% copy on the same server).
So now the admin has to check the links until it works again. If I found an older version of the Link Checker (everything worked with it), we could install it. Unless this is a security risk?

I wouldn’t recommend using older version of the plugin unless there’s absolutely nothing else fixing the issue.

But getting back to the issue itself:

Since you mentioned the setting “Editor and above” I understand that you are still using the “Local (old)” version of Broken Link Checker engine and not cloud (new) one. The Cloud one wouldn’t have this setting and doesn’t allow editors access.

The “Local (old)” engine does and I’ve also tested it to make sure again – it still worked.

However, note that the location has changed and now it’s no longer under “Tools” but your Editors should see a separate “Link Checker” option in menu, like this:

I understand that this is not working, right?

If so, are by any chance those “Editor” roles modified in any way – e.g. by changing default role capabilities or there’s any other additional plugin on site that may be controlling/modifying access right for users?

Also, if it is working on the staging site, is there some significant difference between staging and live such as e.g. live being cached or behind Cl9oudFlare or similar CDN?

Or is it about actual dashboard widget, like this one?

Nein, den Redakteuren wird kein eigenes Menü (weder in einem anderen Menü, noch als separate Option) ebenso wird kein Dashboardwidget angezeigt.

Ja, die Standardrollenfunktionen wurde ge?ndert.
Konkret wurde dem Rang Redakteur zus?tzlich das Recht einger?umt, “ungefiltertes HTML” verwenden zu dürfen. Das ist mit Sicherheit alles, was daran ge?ndert wurde.
Ein Zurücksetzten dieser Option brachte keine ?nderung.

Ja, Cloudflare ist im Spiel, aber bei beiden Sites, also Live und Staging.
Bei keiner Site wird ein Caching Plugin verwendet. Jedoch ist das serverseitige Caching nur auf der Live Site aktiviert, bei der Staging-Site nicht. Aber auch hier brachte die ?nderung der Einstellungen keinen Erfolg in der Sache Sichtbarkeit des Link Checkers …

No caching plugin is used on any site.
However, server-side caching is only enabled on the live site and not on the staging site. But here too, changing the settings had no effect on the visibility of the link checker…

Would you let us know which plugin are you using to manage the user Roles? also, are you able to share a screenshot of the Editor user role settings? please remove any sensitive or important information from the screenshot.

Die Angelegenheit ist gekl?rt, ich habe die betreffende Seite selbst geprüft und entdeckt, dass (mittels “User Role Editor“) den Redakteuren auch das hierfür n?tige Recht edit_others_posts, also das Recht entzogen, Beitr?ge anderer Benutzer zu verwalten.
Habe es wieder gew?hrt und sofort ist alles wie es sein soll!

Ok, der andere Betreiber, dessen Admin wusste es auch nicht besser, weil “User Role Editor” nur ein ge?ndertes Recht anzeigte (eben das mit dem ungefilterten HTML).

Ein Tipp, den ich mir notierte ist:
Bei so Problemen mit dem Plugin “Admin Menu Editor” die n?tigen Rechte der jeweiligen Admin-Menü Eintr?ge checken …

The matter has been clarified, I checked the page in question myself and discovered that (using the “User Role Editor“) the editors had also been revoked the necessary right edit_others_posts, i.e. the right to manage posts by other users.
I granted it again and immediately everything is as it should be!

Sorry, but that’s what happens when you rely on information from others.
Ok, the other operator, whose admin didn’t know any better either, because “User Role Editor” only showed a changed right (the one with the unfiltered HTML).

A tip that I wrote down is: If you have problems with the “Admin Menu Editor” plugin, check the necessary rights of the respective admin menu entries…
