Data/events not showing in GA4

Hi there!

I understand how important it is to see those e-commerce events in GA4. First we’d like to make sure that the WooCommerce Google Analytics integration is set up right. It’s important that you have the correct settings in both WooCommerce and GA4 for the events to track properly.

Please check the following:

1. Ensure that you’ve enabled the ‘Enable GA4 Support’ option in WooCommerce → Settings → Integration if you’re using the older version of analytics.
2. Make sure you’ve entered the correct Measurement ID in the plugin settings for GA4.
3. Look into whether you’ve enabled the ‘Purchase’ events within the Google Analytics Integration settings to fully track e-commerce activity.
4. Try enabling the “Event” variable under Variables->Built in variables->Configure? You just need to turn on the checkbox next to “Event”.

If these are good, try to clear any caches on your site, as they can sometimes prevent the latest changes from showing up. Let me know how it goes.

I checked your site using Google Tag Assistant.
The events are being captured correctly as you have already mentioned.

Some of the events started showing up, however, all events (including page views and purchases) are now reported significantly lower than is the reality and what we see in WooCommerce and used to see in Google Analytics before. For example, even none of my test events I do via Tag Assistant show up in the reporting.

When you say some of the events have started showing up, could you specify what events are showing up now? A screenshot of the GA4 report will be helpful.

Please note that tracking data can take about 24 hours to show up in your Google Dashboard.
Also, the events triggered via Google Tag Assistant might not be recorded in the GA4 report because these are not real customer events.

Do you have an idea about how many customers are visiting your site?
You can check order data to get an estimate.

Once I have more information, I will be in a better position to assist you further.

I meant that some ecommerce events that were previously not defined/set-up such as (purchase, add to cart) appeared in the GA4 reports, though at a much lower quantity than is the reality.

For example, a typical day sees 10-30 orders, however we only have 2 purchases.

I have also attached a screenshot of the page view development in past days – the first significant drop happened after installing the Analytics Plugin, the second one happened once we removed MonsterInsights for WooCommerce as we thought it might interfere with the Analytics Plugin – however since then we see almost no data being reported in GA4 at all.

Thank you for the clarification.

Since you mentioned MonsterInsights for WooCommerce, it’s possible there was a plugin conflict, though conflicts typically lead to an increase in event tracking, not a decrease. This seems to be a unique case.

To assist you further, I’d like to understand more about your setup.
Could you please provide a copy of your site’s System Status Report?
You can find it by navigating to WooCommerce > Status, then select Get system report and Copy for support.

This will give me a better idea of what’s going on.

Could you temporarily deactivate the following plugins and monitor the event tracking to see if the issue persists?
– WP Rocket
– Wordfence Security

Just to be on the safe side, I recommend going through the configuration steps and making sure everything is correctly set up.

Lastly, could you share the reason for having both WPML and Loco Translate plugins active?
They offer the same features and might overlap with each other.

apologies for the longer response time, it took us a while to test all these ??

We have managed to resolve the issue – problem was that our consent management tool was not passing cookie acceptance status properly – i.e. it was always marked as rejected even after accepting. Interestingly, this was not issue before with MonsterInsights, even though it technically should have been.

We also tested turning off the plug-ins you mentioned, but they did not affect this. Also thank you for pointing out the redundancy in our plug-ins, we got rid of that ??
