  • Hi Sheila,

If you go to the edit screen for a specific product and look at the description box in Text/HTML view (not Visual), does it show the <p> tags? If yes, that’s why they’re coming up in your Excel sheet. It exports exactly what’s written there.

I am pasting plain text only into the description fields there are no markup HTML. When I save it and go back to look at the description, it’s putting in div and p tags.

Even when I just type in the description, the text tab show the div tag.

    Hi Sheila,

As the description box has a visual editor and people use it for more than just regular text, the styling needs to be retained on export, so that, when it is imported back, the styling is still there. It would cause quite a bit of confusion for users if their description showed up completely different when they re-imported. This being said, it should be quite simple to do a search and replace in Excel (press Ctrl-H) to remove the the <p> tags.

    OK, thanks!
