Data has disappeared

Hello – my site is only a few months old so I don’t have a lot of traffic. But I’m concerned because I assumed Google Analytics was fairly reliable. Yesterday, I checked my stats before going to bed and took note of the total visitors. When I woke up this morning I looked again to note the total count and the previous day’s visitors was 0. I know this isn’t correct because all day it said I had growing visitors. Everything has disappeared even though it had been “counting”.
Is this normal? Should I be concerned?
Of course, I was excited because my traffic was growing every day, and now it shows a big fat 0 when, in fact, that’s not true.
I also have always had another tracking in the background “Hitsniffer” and it shows the correct amount of visitors for yesterday.
