Database backup stopped working

what did you reconfigure? my backups work but only the auto one does, if i select Create Database Backup i get an error

I didn’t really reconfigure anything. After the install, I just reset the backup email address and the frequency of backup records. Earlier, I had this set for 1 day, but this time I set it to 24 hours.

I’ve got exactly the same issue – attempt backup, 500 server error:

The website encountered an error while retrieving …/wp-admin/admin.php?page=better-wp-security-databasebackup. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

‘Re-configuring’ the backups does nothing. Ever since I first installed the plugin I’ve been unable to use the DB backup function. Still no fixes?

Since I updated BWPS a month ago, the DB backup function has been working normally. Perhaps that leads to an option for you to delete the current install and install it afresh. As I am not a techy in these matters, I’m afraid that I am unable to suggest anything else.

I have a problem – create backup button goes to white screen. During installation, when prompted to backup, the button worked fine.

I’m using WP 3.5.2 and plugin 3.5.4

Any advice appreciated. I’ve used this plugin in several sites but never had this problem before.

I have the same problem with two of my sites – 500 error when I try to create a database backup. This happened after updating the plug-in from v3.5.3 to v3.5.4. I’m running WP at v3.5.2.

I fixed the problem by uninstalling v3.5.4 of the plug-in and re-installing v3.5.3. Of course I had to go through and reapply all of the settings. But now my backups work again.

Any fix for this in the near future?

Unfortunately I’ve been using the plugin for well over a year through various updates and it hasn’t worked for me since the beginning, so for me it seems unrelated to the plugin version. Seems unlikely to be a plugin conflict either as this is the first plugin I installed when setting up the new site. Even then the DB backup didn’t work.

I see the developer doesn’t monitor this support forum (stated in the forum sticky post), so it seems unlikely to be fixed. For now I’ve opted for a secondary plugin just to handle backups.

I’ve been using this plugin for some months now. I have set up the backup to be performed every 24h and I used to get the backup file in my mailbox.
Recently, about a month ago, I stopped receiving the backup file. Now, when I click the Create Database Backup button, to start the process manually, I get a white screen and nothing else happens. Needless to say that the scheduled backup, either in mail or web host, does not work.

I have another WP installation where Better WP Security was at version 3.5.3. I ran a test and the backup functionality was working OK. Right after that, I updated to Better WP Security v3.5.4 and the Backup stopped working right away!

I’ve just installed v3.5.5 of the plugin and I confirm that the white screen problem with manual DB backup, that I mentioned above, is gone (thanks!). Sending the backup by email seems to be working OK as well.

Confirmed. v3.5.5 of the plug-in has corrected the database backup bug.

just i found solution without any changes, i dont know its work for other or not but i tried this thing.

just change your email id to another than save than again use your previous mail id its works for me, i dont know for others.

reply me if its work.

I cannot reproduce the solution here –?sites that had created & sent backups without issues before stopped sending when I upgraded to BWPS 3.5.5 [sic]. The affected sites (running WP 3.6) show the behavior reported in the originial post of this thread.
