    Hi guys,

I am having some really annoying issues here.

My website periodically crashes and I get a ‘Database connection issue’ error from bluehost

It has happened twice when I’ve received a spike in traffic (nothing massive, like 130-250 people at the same time for a product launch for example.

And now it is happening every now and again with bluehost fixing it by ‘optimising’ things each time.

Now interestingly I received a wordpress error stating the following

First, visit your website (https://raceprints.co.uk/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://raceprints.co.uk/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron=1607440032.4061400890350341796875) and check for any visible issues.

    Then

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 5.5.3
Current theme: Flatsome Child (version 3.0)
    Current plugin: WooCommerce (version 4.7.1)
    PHP version 7.3.25

    Error Details
    =============
An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 86 of the file /home3/tfaxyfmy/public_html/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/includes/class-wc-data-store.php. Error message: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded

And after a bit of reading around the subject I can’t help but thing this is connected. I have asked Bluehost if there is anything causing them to throttle my connection, like too many Crons etc and they have just come back and said ask woocommerce, they have a broken plugin.

I’m sorry, I have tried to look around all other posts I could see for this, and videos etc. But it’s bumming me out so much i’m looking to jump shimp to Shopify. The website is scaling up a lot recently and I really thing this is linked to the error and database issues i’m getting.

I don’t have any other logs, or know how to get them. But I have just installed wpcrontrol

Oh, and I forgot, any help is appreciated before I kill someone at Bluehost. I went with them and then read all the bad stuff afterwards, shame on me. I don’t know if I can blame them or not but it does feel pretty easy to jump on that bandwagon.

I also have this error on the Cron Events screen

There was a problem spawning a call to the WP-Cron system on your site. This means WP-Cron events on your site may not work. The problem was:
cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 3003 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

The database connection error is almost certainly your server running out of RAM – especially common on cheap shared hosting.

I’ve moved sites away from Bluehost and others a few times because of this. Low end shared hosting is just not suitable for ecommerce – especially WooCommerce.

Damn. I’ve had this at the back of my mind each time, obv they won’t tell me that, but I had no real experience to back it up. I guess I need to plan a move to a better host. I didn’t want to do that and have the same issues again if it was a build issue, I’m almost thinking of planning a move to Shopify but I really don’t want to do that. Thanks for your input Sean
