• I got this message while trying to update my ConvertKit forms. I’m just learning to navigate my way through WordPress and yes, I need some help please.

    Thank you so much.

  • I’ve just got this too so very interested in response.

    Hi all,

I just experienced the same issue. After some research, I have found that rolling back to a previous version of the CK plugin solves the problem. I haven’t tried yet but it seems promising to me.

On the CK plugins page at www.ads-software.com, scroll down and click on Advanced View. Next scroll down and choose 7.2 version and press download. Now install this on you website and hope it will solve the problem.

The above error comes after the 7.2+ version because I have a version lower than 7.2 on one of my site and it is working just fine.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Bests,

I am having the same issue. When I go to the CK plugins page, I am not seeing the “advanced view” option. Can you help?

I went to “Plug ins”. Clicked on “CK” and then hit “Settings”. My choices then are “General” “Tools” and “Contact Form 7”. I can’t find anything that says “advanced” under any of those. It shows that I have the most recent form but I don’t know how to go back to the previous one.

    TIA

Following. I’m getting the same error.

    It’s simple.

You don’t have to search for advanced in the WordPress plugin. You can find the Advanced on the CK plugins page at www.ads-software.com.

    Here is the url.
    Goto: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/convertkit/

Next click on Development Tab, scroll down and choose a lower version from the menu.

Clicking on Download will download the plugin to your computer.

Log into your WP dashboard, proceed to click on Add New Plugin and upload the package u just downloaded.

    That’s all.

Let me know if u face any problems.

    This solves the problem.

    Bests!

I followed your instructions but it said “upload failed.” Do I need to delete my previous version of CK first? If I do that, will anything happen to the forms on my website or is that all preserved through my CK account?

    Hi,
Yes you need to remove the installed version of CK first.

If you do, you will need to re-authenticate your plugin with you CK account.

All your forms will still exist in your CK account. But you may need to setup them again on you website.

For sure, it solves the problem of characterset support.

    Bests!

    Hi all,

Sorry for the hassle with the ConvertKit plugin!

We recently added a check for character set issues, to catch situations where customers with emojis in forms or landing pages were having problems with the plugin.

That check was overly aggressive, and caused a lot of false positives.

This is fixed in an update to the plugin, which will be rolling out very soon. If you continue to see issues after updating to 1.7.5 (not released as of this writing, but coming soon!), please contact support and we’ll help you out.

    Thanks @travisnorthcutt for the update.
    Any eta on the fix?

    Hi @travisnorthcutt
I have installed 1.7.5 but still see the issue, can you please advise how to fix it?

I still see the issue, too. I wonder if this is why my forms don’t show up in Safari. The forms show up in Chrome, but not Safari. I can embed or use javascript. They don’t show up in Safari. When do you think you will fix this?

Hi @crashemarketing & @johannarothman, a recent update (version 1.8.0) may have fixed this issue – can you confirm if you’re still seeing a problem here?

Also @johannarothman, this shouldn’t affect your forms not showing up in Safari. If you’re still having that problem, please get in touch with ConvertKit support so we can help you out. Thanks!

@travisnorthcutt, it turned out that a caching plugin was to blame for my forms not showing up. Yes, CK support was a big help. Thank you.

I found that error message not very useful ?? I suspect it’s low on your list, but if you can change the error message, I would have found and fixed this much earlier.
