• I am very new at this. I have download WP, but i can not establishing a database connection
    I get this error:
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
I have my site with https://www.needhost.dk
Is there anyone that can help a newbie to guide me in phpMyAdmin. Thanks in advance for you help!

  • That’s not your site – that’s your host! What is the address of your site? Do you have access to a database in your hosting package? If yes, was a database created for WP?

my address of my site: https://web2176.nh5.needhost.dk ??

Good. Now back to the questions I asked.
Do you have a database? Did you put your 4 pieces of info into the wp-config.php file? If yes, did you check them they are correct?

Maybe future versions should be setup to boldface

“If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. “

i have put my 4 pieces of info into the wp-config.php file but i dont know how i create a database in phpMyAdmin

Take a look at this, maybe it will help:

Following up on this, I have a related setup situation.
My (new) host is Hummingbird Hosting, site is ridenbaugh.com. This is my first time around with a DB of this; have always done plain HTML in the past.
I went through the process of setting up a database in the post above, then through the WordPress setup. Got a message in that process, “we are installing in [the directory location] … Moving installation files into place…Done. Setting up config file…done. Finishing installation steps…done. Installation finished. To access your WordPress installation go to” – and gives the address. When I got there, it said:

    Error establishing a database connection

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

I believe these things are correct – I downloaded and re-uploaded with what I believe are the correct settings, the wp-config.php file. Made no difference.
My web host indicates the servers are up.
Any suggestions on what to try next?

You need to talk to your host.
What you describe there does not happen in a regular install, so I presume you used some sort of one-click solution – which is obviously broken.

    Thanks, podz, I will.
Slightly off-topic, but as I’m brand new to this – would any internal conflict arise if I – for now – re-post my old HTML pages on the new server location, and then try setting up Word Press later, so the site is at least on line?

No conflict until there are two index file in the same directory. At that point a server setting will decide which takes priority, but renaming one in ‘index2’ will sort it

Thanks much. I’ll be back in the neighborhood, I imagine, before long.
