• Hi. My host provider recently migrated with Go Daddy and in doing so my website wouldn’t load. I got the “Established a database error” page only. My host said our database was corrupt and running of a cache version which wouldn’t migrate. I tried to repair the database and got this report (missing tables, pasted below). I’ve since put up a temp landing page with Site Publisher so our clients new what was going on. But I can not log into the WP Admin site to work on the site. Can I remove all of the old files and start over? I only have old backups as the newer ones were corrupt. Thanks for the support.

  • If your newest backup is corrupted there is little you can do to get your old content back short of trying to fix the backup, extracting what you can from it or using something like Wayback Machine to get what you can.

For your old backup, you can see what is in there. If you have anything such as .sql, .tar.gz etc there is a good chance you can restore that backup. You can try deleting all the tables and restoring your older database and checking if that works.

Starting over is easy should you need to do so. Just log into PhpMyAdmin and just delete every table. When you access WordPress again it will see an empty database and do its own installation thing!

Thanks. I deleted (dropped) all of the existing tables. The wp_admin page loaded and reinstalled the files. Now I start from scratch. Hopefully I can restore some of the previous back ups. Appreciate the prompt support!
