I made a personal WordPress blog about technology, called Tech Traces. Now at first I was determined not to spend any money on it at all, useing 000 free web hosting and .tk for the domain. (For the record; I know .tk is a scam, its just one that benefits me more then not… normally.) Now I started to have some troubles with my techtraces.tk so I purchased techtraces.net (the .tk is just a redirect page now). If you go to the .net version you get a database error. This is my problem obviously, there is suppose to be a blog there not just an error. When I moved the WordPress from one site to the next here is what I did in order:

    1. Use Filezilla to copy all of the files off of the old server
    2. exported database into my computer
    3. imported database into new server
    4. use the search and replace script to change all instances of “.tk” with “.net”
    5. used Filezilla to copy all of the WordPress files onto the new server
    6. edited the config file to work with the new data base by changing its name, location, username, and password
    7. tried the site out

yea… step 7 didn’t work so well… I don’t know the first thing about php, and especially don’t know how php and sql works together. I have tried to set ‘RELOCATE’ to true and then log in to the admin panel (a solution on another post) but no matter what page I try to go to I just get that error. I guess I wasn’t expecting it to be so easy, but I was hoping it would be so easy. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
