Hi, I am getting reports that people are getting a Database Error message when trying to submit messages. I have tried sending messages from Chrome, Edge, Firefox, IE, and Safari/iPad but am not getting the error message.

Anyideas what might be causing this for some people?

    Hi Mike,

Please note that we have tested and haven’t received any errors too.

However, it can be a conflict with your theme. Could you please change it and check whether the problem persists?

Thanks in advance, have a nice day!

Sorry I have only just seen your reply, I did not get an email even though the notify box is ticked!

We are still having problems with this and it seems to be related to the length of the message. I have just done a test and text longer than 254 characters including spaces gives a database error, shorter messages are sent successfully.

The issue is to do with the field in the database rather than the contact form itself. If I turn off the option to save to the database the form works fine.

    Dear Mike,

Could you please give me a few more details? Please tell me in which field and what text have you put?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi there, I’m having exactly the same issue – people trying to use a form and reporting they’re getting a database error message although I can’t replicate it myself. There are 2 forms generating the message, this is one of them: https://americana-uk.com/contact-us

    Hi,

Please note that I have submitted the form but have not received the mentioned error message. Please see here.

Could you please specify particular when/after which action the message is received?

    Thanks.

I’m still not getting notifications when Form Maker Support make comments here!? I did when markamericana commented earlier hence me looking at the post now!!!

Our forms are fairly simple, short text fields for Name, Phone Number, Email Address, and Subject, and a paragraph text field for the message.

I have put plain ordinary text in the message field and if there are more than 254 characters AND the form is set to save to the database then when I try to submit a form I get the database error message. If the text is shorter no error message is received, as stated before I have turned off save to database and we are no longer getting the error messages.

    Hi Mike,

Could you please try the solution described in this URL.

    Thanks. Have a nice day.

Thanks both. Yes I can’t replicate it myself but have just had someone who gets the message email me the details. He’s using Chrome (Version 70.0.3538.102 (Official Build) (64-bit)) on OSX (10.13.6)

    Hi!

I had the same problem just today. I finally managed to reproduce the error!

In fact, people often put an url in the message so, the error appears.

You just need to ask your visitors NOT TO include URL on the aera message ??

    Best regards
