When I try to log in to my site a message tells me the database needs repair. So I follow the instructions to enable repair (by adding some info to the wp-config.php file). But after I proceed with repair it is reported that some tables could not be repaired. Here is the specific info that is reported:

    wp_usermeta: Table ‘peyoway_nov2019wp.wp_usermeta’ doesn’t exist
    wp_posts: Table ‘peyoway_nov2019wp.wp_posts’ doesn’t exist
    wp_options: Table ‘peyoway_nov2019wp.wp_options’ doesn’t exist

    Yikes.
I will be immensely grateful if someone could please help.

    Try repairing with phpmyadmin: https://www.a2hosting.com/kb/cpanel/cpanel-database-features/optimizing-and-repairing-mysql-databases-with-phpmyadmin

If that fails, then you’ll need to restore the database from a backup.

Thanks for your reply! I went into phpmyadmin but realized that the problem is that the 3 tables don’t exist, and the instructions at that link you provided require selecting the tables that need repair, so I can’t do that since they don’t exist. So looks like my only choice is to perform a backup from a zipped Updraftplus in an external location… At least I have that.

    thanks again

You’re way ahead of the game! Good for you for making and having backups.

    Final report:
Seems there was some kind of issue with the previous host that was preventing me from restoring from UpDraftPlus backups. That host offers a Restore service, but charges $25 and I finally gave up waiting for it after 55 stressful hours. I was able to do a full restore on the new host using my UpDraftPlus backup files. But in the future at the new host, I now have the capability do a select restore (choose files or database) in a couple clicks, no extra fee, no wait. I think the Universe was pointing me in this direction. ??
