  • Do you have a backup of your database “one”?
If yes you can import it to database “two”.
see Backing_Up_Your_Database – it also has a section for Restore.
After that you have to change the site_url and home values in the options table; see https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/

great, thanks but…im very new to this and im confused, hot to make my blog to work with the new database name?

You will have to modify the wp-config.php file: that’s where the DB name, DB user, DB pw and DB host are defined.

ok, then i made my backup from my last server, the database name is “one” but my new server’s database name
is “portal” so i installed wordpress, but to apply my backup from my last server i have to modify something using phpmyadmin or other database manager software? so confuse :S

Did you read and follow the instructions I have posted above? About backup and restore.

yeah i did, i downloaded the mysql admin software for windows, so in the seccion restore, if i have a new database name i just have tho change my old database schemata to the new database name and it will restore it using the new database name structure and work well without caring if i have my blog in https://www.example.com or https://www.example.com/blog or https://www.users.com/fancy/dot ??
    thanks

You don’t really need any “mysql admin software” on your PC – it’s enough if it’s installed on the server(s).

well..im trying to restore my database using mysql administrator (easy to use) but for example i write some post, i:
    1- backup the database.
    2- delete tables an database.
    3- start new installation.
4- restore database. In the restore section of the mysql administrator where it says “target schema” i choose the new database.
    So….i it doesnt work.

I don’t know anything about mysql administrator, sorry. If a host doesn’t offer phpmyadmin… I don’t even think about using it ??
But as I see there are a detailed instructions about it on the Codex page I linked above.

Maybe somebody can jump in and offer more help.

    2- I backup the database.
    3- I delete the database.
4- I delete the database and i create a new one.
5- I install the blog again.
6- I restore the database under the new database name.

    well..i have some updated news:

I tried the software i said before and didint work but ohomyadmin did work ??
    now my question is:

How to make my backup work if i move to another server and i have another database name? how to change the old database name configured in my last one to update it to the new one?
    thanks

    If “ohomyadmin” is = phpmyadmin…
The name of the database doesn’t really matter. If you follow the instructions you can see that you backup the tables and their content. I did this several times and never had to think about the database name. The only place where it matters is the wp-config file.
So, I don’t really understand what are you struggling with this “name” issue…
