• I am curious how other developers handle updating a database/or site for that matter, when you have a client that doesn’t want to give you an id that has edit privileges. I say I must have update privileges – not only to update the site, but to also put in the wp-config.php. Am I missing something? – I have never run into such a request.

I use backupbuddy to migrate a site and the id the client gave me can not make the necessary updates. The client wants to run the software.

  • It’s easy. You tell them that unless they allow you that level of access you can’t perform the required updates, and that they will have to do them for you. It sounds like what they want to do anyway. Just make sure that you make them very aware that because you aren’t performing the updates, you are not responsible for any issues that occur if something goes wrong.
