• I installed xaamp locally and have been working with it on several sites before going live. The other day, I created another worpress site and when I was in phpmyadmin, I think that I messed something up because now when I add a database, it does not create any tables as before in my other wordpress installs. Any Idea what I need to do to get phpmyadmin to automatically create the wordpress tables.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Phpmyadmin doesn’t automatically create tables for anything; only thing you do in phpmyadmin is create an empty database for WP. When you run the WP installer, WP creates tables for itself.

Thanks for the reply. When trying to install wordpress locally, I created “wordpress” database, added DB name, user name, user password, saved the config.php then go to– https://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php. I get an error that says, “Error establishing a database connection.” The server and mysql is running and all of my other local sites work fine. I have installed 5 or 6 sites this way without any diffculties. I’m not sure what the problem is.
    Any ideas.

    Thanks very much,

    Jeff

Check your DB name, user name, user password again and again.
