• After recently updating the calendar to 3.11.2, calendar pro to 3.11.1 and our community add-on to 3.11, our website’s database queries when using the calendar’s front end are painfully slow. What is worse though is that Bing and Yahoo Slurp hit the calendar (regardless of what’s in my robots.txt file) and overload the cpu, which then shuts down the site; the server has been restarted again and again.

We’ve just blacklisted Yahoo and Bing, but this is not ideal. The very slow page loading remains an issue. The Tribe calendar, with 4,554 events, is currently unusable.

Any thoughts, fixes or suggestions would be welcome!

  • Hey @wort-fm,

Sorry to hear about the issue you are having ??

Can you please post this in our premium forums? We just support the core version of The Events Calendar here.

I suggest you downgrade the plugins for now and set up a staging site to test the updates there. Also implementing a caching solution is recommended for high volume sites.

    Best,
    Nico
