• Hello, I had a wordpress blog installed as a subdirectory in a joomla installation and everything was working fine; I managed to customize the default theme to look exactly like our joomla template complete with working menus and everything. Then due to an unrelated issue, the decision was made to get a security certificate for our site. Now the blog has disappeared, and no matter what I do I can’t find it. When I link directly to blog/index.php I get a page not found; yet when I enter the url blog/read_me.html I do indeed see the read me that is inside the wordpress folder. I can I have also experimented with the options table in the database and changed the url and it seems to have no effect.

This seems to be the main problem, it as if the database is remembering the old url that was entered.

I was hoping someone could explain if there were other files or if there was somewhere else in the database that I need to change some sort of path in order to make the wordpress funtion correctly.

  • A couple of thoughts from moving wordpress sites:

Did you follow all the instructions at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress – I’m thinking in particular of changing both “siteurl” & “home”, as well as the need to disable & then re-enable the htaccess.

I had to move mine rather unexpectedly, so couldn’t plan in advance, so ended up having to use database tools to find *all* instances of the old URL & update it. (I had the additional problem that mod-rewrite wasn’t enabled on the new location, but as you’re only moving folders, I guess that won’t be an issue for you)
