Database Size getting too big?

Hello, I have noticed that officially this plugin takes up the most database space on my sites, all of them. It’s not too surprising but I was wondering if anything can be done so that the database doesn’t get big? I have about 10 websites running this plugin and the average size for the table is minimum 40mb.
