    Hello
When I update Woocommerce often there is a database update in the background. However, this update does not run on my test sites. I have an htaccess that protects access to these sites. If I withdraw this access, the update is carried out.
Moreover I use mass updates of all my sites, so it is unimaginable to go back to each of them, open the ftp and modify the htaccess protection, check the update and put the htaccess back.
How to get around this problem? Thanks

    Hi @houba_houbi,

Since .htaccess is a configuration file from the webserver this will be better handled by your hosting company. This support article on changing file permissions should also be helpful – https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/changing-file-permissions/.

Let us know if you have any specific questions related to WooCommerce core.

    Cheers.

Hello I don’t have any problem with my htaccess file.
But because of this protection, the woocommerce data base won’t update.
Is woocommerce updates can run with an htaccess protection ?

    Hi @houba_houbi,

If your WC database is updated when you lift the restrictions on your .htaccess file and won’t update when the restrictions are enabled, then there would be something you’d have to change on your .htaccess file which goes outside our scope of support. As suggested above it’s best to reach out to your host for further assistance with this issue.

    Best.

Nobody use woocommerce with an htaccess protection (htpasswd) in dev website ?
I have nothing special in this htaccess.

    Hey @houba_houbi,

You might try using this plugin which allows background tasks to run on a site protected by basic authentication.

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-cron-http-auth/

We use it occasionally when testing tasks that rely on cron with password-protected staging sites.

See if that works for you.

    Cheers

    Hello @3sonsdevelopment
    Thanks for this plugin.
I will check if I have the problem with a next woocommerce update and if yes I will test this plugin.
    Regards

    Hello,

That sounds like a plan, please let us know how it goes.

    Best.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while (I think you have been able to find a solution), so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.

    Thanks.
