Database Update Required – All my posts and pages deleted!!!

I just tried to login to my site and I was prompted to update my database. Once I updated all my posts and pages were deleted.

This is the message I received before I clicked update:

“database update required wordpress has been updated! before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version. the update process may take a little while, so please be patient.”

Is this normal?????
