Database Upgrade failing (3.5.1 -> 3.6.1)

  • I performed an automatic upgrade from 3.5.1 to 3.6.1 and afterwards, A page saying the following, was displayed:

    Database Update Required

    WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version.

    The update process may take a little while, so please be patient.

    It included a button labeled “Update WordPress Database”

    After pressing the button, only the WordPress logo banner is displayed.

    The following day the page is still displayed and if in a new tab I attempt to visit an admin page, I’m redirected to the database update page again that I described first.

    How can I fix this please?

    (The main site is functioning normally)
