Date Field defaulted to today’s date

Hello I am attempting to add a hidden date field to my form that is populated with the date it is submitted. The best I can find when searching for something like this is using javascript to force the date. It looks like contact form 7 has a “today” function but it seems like this can only be used with min or max.

Anyone else on here try something like this?
