Date field formatting

No question this time, but since it took me a few tries to figure out the error of my ways, I’m posting for others:
No matter how I set the Date Format for Participants Database Date fields in the plugin’s admin panel, the date kept formatting as 24 July. 2016.
I used F j, Y Input Date Format as and the admin panel said, “The date with your current setting looks like this: July 24, 2016.” The front end for my forms continued to format 24 July, 2016, whether I set strict formatting or not and whether I input it exactly as July 24, 2016 or 7/24/16 or 7/24/2016 or anything else.
My WordPress settings — where I had left the default because it never previously mattered — were overriding Participants Database settings.
So change your WP default date setting, and the plugin will comply.
