Date picker altering footer

Hi,
I have a form with a date picker on it and I think it is altering my footer.
Before the datepicker is activated it seems to be positioned below my footer which pushes it up and reveals the white of the page.Seen here:
https://oi50.tinypic.com/303d2tc.jpgThe blue is my footer that should be on the bottom of the window but the collapsed(?) date picker is making that space.
When i click in the area to select a date, further up the page, the footer returns to normal.
