I’ve seen this problem mentioned many times with regards to this plugin – when I try to add a new advert it won’t save the date and stays in 1970. There is nothing about AdRotate in the error log and I’m using the latest version. I was considering upgrading but don’t want to do this if I’m going to have problems with it, any suggestions? thanks.

From time to time this pops up yes, and every time it’s an issue with the database or a missing schedule for the advert.

You can try to re-activate the plugin from the plugins page, simply de-activate, wait a few seconds and re-activate. If AdRotate can fix the issue by itself then it’ll work.

If you’re recently updated AdRotate from an older version the update may not have completed. You can do so from Settings > Maintenance, near the bottom of the page.

Otherwise, check the servers error_log file after you’ve tried to create an advert. Any script error or warning is logged and will tell us more about what’s going wrong.

Hi, I tried de/re-activating and there is nothing in the error log. It’s been updated.

Update – I tried generating a banner, then changing the details afterwards and that seems to have worked…something isn’t right somewhere though.

Generating as-in using the advert generator?

    Yep.

When I try to make an advert with the advert generator a schedule is properly generated for the advert, starting today and ending in 3 months.

When editing/finishing the advert you can see and edit this.

If you’re not using the latest version please update the plugin. Version 5.12.6 got released today.

Or, small chance of this, if you’re using some kind of database cleanup routine, or anything that fiddles with the database, try to exempt AdRotate from it so nothing is messed up.

Am using the latest version and not touching the database.

Alright, well, I tried it a few times. I was able to make 4 ads with the generator. All had a schedule assigned as intended.
Not sure what went wrong for you, without more information, like an error, there isn’t much I can do unfortunately. Let me know if you have more information so I can investigate further.
