    Dear Pods team,
we experience a strange behaviour with the Pods Date/Time field. Some text parts like month names etc. are being displayed in Asian letters (please compare screenshot: https://pasteboard.co/GXfWkK5.jpg)

The WP page language is German, but it doesn’t change anything if we switch back to English (US). WordPress is latest version (4.9.1), Pods is 2.7, but this appeared on previous Pods versions as well.

Any hint how this is caused or how it can be fixed?

    Thank you and best regards!

  • My first thought was an character encoding problem but looking at the screen shot, the characters are not random. It is correctly showing “Friday, November 8th, 2017”, but in Chinese language/locale.

I’d say off hand that the language/local param is not being set properly.

After writing the above I checked a site where I use Pods to add a Date field to User profiles. The Date widget comes up in English, as it should. I then went to admin menu >> settings >> general >> Site Language and changes the language to Japanese and save settings. I again went to the User Profile date field expecting to see a Japanese Calendar but it is unchanged and still in English.

Perhaps some code review is warranted in the date selector code.

@jimtrue: As I don’t have a Github account, would you mind creating the ticket there for me? Let me know should you require any further information.

    Thank you!

    Cheers

@m3h1nd3r It’s very easy to create a GitHub account, and if I create the ticket for you, you won’t receive any update on the ticket and we can’t ask you for additional feedback, either. That’s why items like this need to go to GitHub for proper tracking and communication with the person bringing the issue to bear.

    Thank you @m3h1nd3r

@criticaltinkerer I added your notes to the GitHub ticket as well, but it will help to have your input over there. Closing this ticket as communication should be focused on the GitHub issue.
