Dates BC

Hi Alain,

Not at the moment – but this is something we are working on getting into the Pro version as it requires a re-work of the current queries run to pull in and order the announcements.

Depending on the complexity and/or integration with current timelines we may need to build it out as a standalone add-on (which would then allow it to be used with our free version as well).

So in short, to answer your question, not at the moment – but this is a feature that we are actively working on.

We’ve gone ahead and shipped our BC/AD Dates Add-On which can now be purchased through the add-ons section of our site.

Essentially the add-on allows you to specify which announcements are BC vs AD dates, and lays them out in chronological order on your timeline accordingly.

We have two filters in there to allow you to append AD onto AD dates, or to strip trailing zeros from BC dates (eg: 02/02/0146 BC becomes 02/02/146 BC – which looks nicer).

Feel free to give things a go if it suits the needs for your project.

Is it possible to add BC dates like this:

400 BC – 300 BC
300 BC – 150 BC
etc

Shoot you are correct – I entered the wrong URL.

You can add date ranges with a bit of tweaking but out of the box ranges aren’t fully supported.

With a small tweak we can just add a start date and and date and display the on the timeline. I’d be happy to help work on a solution.
