Day/month name translation not working as expected

In which translation file the plugin gets the day/month name? This is taken from the translation file of the plugin or the WordPress core translation?
I have followed this guide https://support.theeventscalendar.com/286341-How-to-Override-Plugin-Language-Files to create my custom file. Then inside I have changed the day/month name, but nothing happens, but if I change another word, for example “list” the modification is visible without problem.
Any ideas? Is like is taking the day/month names from another translation file…The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
